Heather started her career as a Forensic Chemist focused on dangerous drugs and arson cases in Jamaica. This exciting opportunity, utilized both her studies in the sciences and her interest in crime investigations. The job involved laboratory analysis of fluids, powders and solids, visiting crime scenes, handling a variety of evidence related to police investigations and appearances in court.

On migrating to Canada, Heather switched careers and moved into marketing, client services and sales roles at well-known Canadian companies such as Ontario Power Generation and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board. She also worked for a while with JAMPRO, Jamaica’s trade and investment promotion agency in sector research and team lead functions.

Heather continues work in the area of sponsorship having just completed 14 years at Toronto Region Board of Trade as the Director, Membership & Sponsorship, where she managed the firm’s relationship with Fortune 500 member companies and key partners.

Past volunteer opportunities cover Board of Director positions in the Durham Region with UOIT and Durham Hospice as well as mentoring through the Mentoring Partnership. She now volunteers with the hospitality ministry at the Embassy Church in Oshawa as well as with the Yves Landry Foundation. A love for all things family keeps Heather balanced and motivated.

Youth development and welfare issues, continuous learning and international travel are close to Heather’s heart.

Heather has an MBA (Marketing & Finance) from the Schulich School of Business as well as a B.Sc. (Chemistry & Biology) from the University of the West Indies.
