Elever Baker, Principal

Elever Baker is a passionate and enthusiastic educator who thoroughly enjoys working with diverse students to nurture their academic and personal goals. She embraces challenges and prioritizes the needs of students in the ever-changing education system.

Elever is an advocate for all students but recognizes the need for equity and inclusion for students who are underserved and face barriers in their education. She develops lasting and enduring relationships with students as she believes: Being an educator continues after students leave her classroom and school.

Elever has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Anthropology, a minor in History and a Bachelor of Education. She is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC). Elever started working in the public school system in 2005. She has worked and taught students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. She holds a specialization in reading and librarianship and additional qualifications in guidance and special education.

Elever is passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM), and Social Justice, working with aspiring students in under-resourced areas of Toronto. She has developed lessons/resources and programs to promote student engagement, numeracy, and literacy.


Elever was promoted to vice-principal in 2018 and principal in 2022. In both roles, she has also supported new & beginning teachers; and aspiring leaders through mentoring and mentorship programs; and participated in the hiring process of teachers at the Board level. Her education philosophy includes JOY, ENGAGEMENT & BELONGING as important ingredients for academic success.


Elever is the happy mother of twins, her son, Christian and daughter, Charis.
