WAYNE IRVING, PLUMBER
My name is Wayne Irving and I am a Jorneyman Plumber (licensed). I’ve been licensed since 2009 after I wrote my provincial government exam. I work in new build residential homes roughing in plumbing fixtures to finishing them.
I decided to become a sub contractor shortly after receiving my license, named and opened my own business called Prime Plumbing. The difference from being a dependent sub contractor and being hourly is being able to bill for the amount of work that is done as opposed to working set hours and therefore limiting your income potential.
Becoming a plumber takes dedication and a lot of hours, but the benefit of our career is that it’s always advancing and always demanding. As long as you are dedicated and motivated within the trade the options are endless and how much you make is really on the individual, if I had a choice to redo my choices and actions before jumping into this trade, I definitely wouldn’t change a thing.
