TANYA WALKER – LAWYER AND ENTREPRENEUR
Tanya Walker graduated from McMaster University in 2002 with an Honours Commerce degree, minoring in Economics. She then attended Osgoode Hall Law School, graduating in 2005 and called to the Bar in 2006. Tanya practiced at two Bay Street firms before opening her own downtown law firm five years ago. Walker Law employs four full time employees.
Tanya has been recognized for her efforts. She received the Women’s Enterprise Woman of the Year Award in 2010, the Award of Excellence for Community Service from the Sickle Cell Miracle Network in 2012, and the Young Entrepreneur Award in 2013 from the Black Business and Professional Association. In 2014, Tanya was honoured to receive the Ambassador for Peace Award from organizations affiliated with the United Nations.
Also in 2014, the National Bar Association recognized Tanya’s volunteer efforts with the Young Lawyers Division Chair’s Award for Outstanding Service. In October this year Tanya will receive the award for excellence in owning a Traditional Law Practice from the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers.
Tanya looks forward to new opportunities for service in the legal and Black communities.
