Gary Thompson, CET, P.Eng, C.Eng, MIET, MBA, MSc; is an accomplished engineering professional with over 25 years working with utilities and industry. He facilitates the engagement, facilitation and mentoring of individuals and teams towards achieving excellence. He is recognized as a leader, strategic thinker, highly skilled asset manager, smart grid innovator and electrical engineer.

Currently at Toronto Hydro, he leads a team of professionals that plan and enable the connection of all electricity generation infrastructure and provide analytical and technical studies for the Toronto Hydro Electricity System.
As an Educator he has developed and taught courses in Power Systems, Electric Machines, Renewable Energy and Business at various academic institutions. He currently lectures at the Center for Urban Energy, at Ryerson University
An active community volunteer, he spends his time as a facilitator of community relationships, promoting cooperation and understanding across various racial and religious communities.

His skill set includes significant experience in the area of Board Governance and Operations. He has served on various Boards and Committees within the areas of education, municipal government, law enforcement and social services.
